Can You Hear the Sound?
I Kings 17-18, I Kings 18:41-45a
Elijah stood as the prophet of God, in a time when witchcraft was running wild and the whole nation was taken under the devil's power. This sounds familiar! Elijah knew and understood that though the devil was at work, God had a plan. He could see that it was not an issue between men but an issue between Gods. Who is the real God? Who are the people going to serve?
Elijah first made a commitment: I will serve God; I will be faithful to the real God; I will be obedient! Though the devil is camped all around and people all around are falling for his lies, I will stay with my God! He stayed in fellowship with God, so he was able to hear correctly, what God was saying. To misrepresent our God is one of the most serious errors we can ever make.
Elijah trusted God to take care of Him during drought and famine. He knew the Lord would bring Him through it! He would not die for he had a promise rain would come at his word! We must be ready to trust God with our lives based on His Word!
Elijah had a life of miracles during the drought. Likewise, as the people of God, our lives should be a constant miracle, proving every day that we have the real thing. Elijah left the place of miracles and blessings to confront the evil ruler and go into front line, major spiritual warfare. Warfare comes before the breakthrough- warfare comes before the prayer for rain! Elijah knew when he had the manifest victory. He had signs from heaven because he had victory in his heart before he began.
Now, he could begin to pray in agreement with God's Word. Go show yourself to the evil ruler and I will send rain! We will not have the outpouring of God's Spirit on us nor see revival as we desire until we confront and remove the evil rulers. Elijah is given as our example of a prayer warrior that prayed and the heavens were closed-prayed, and they were open. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much!
They were all in one accord and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind. And it filled all the house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance- for the cloven tongues of fire set upon each of them. (Acts 2:1-3) Ask ye the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain, so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain. (Zechariah 10:1) And the hand of the Lord was upon them and with great power gave they witness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ! (Acts 11:21) He is Lord of all!
I hear the sound of the abundance of rain! Can you hear the sound? On our knees with our heads between them, refusing to give up until the cloud is seen and the sound is heard! Can you hear the sound? Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! Psalm 89:15-18
